Here, Jesus teaches that fasting should not be a show off for our spirituality, like the Pharisees and John’s disciples did.

When John’s disciples asked Jesus why His disciples did not fast, notice His reply in verses 15.

Even though fasting is essential, we should be very careful not to use it as a measure of spirituality.
