SATURDAY 5 JULY
TEXT: PSALM 8:1-9
TOPIC: LICENSED TO RULE
Compared with the glory of God, the stars and the galaxies, human beings are very insignificant and inconsequential (Psalm 8:4). Yet, the powerful and majestic God who created the universe does not despise us.
We are inconsequential in ourselves but God has honoured us with a special place in His creation. We have been given a status a little lower than the angels (8:5).
God Himself appointed and licensed mankind as rulers of His creation (Genesis 1:26).
Human beings are regents over terrestrial animals which live on land, aquatic animals which live in the sea and those which fly.
Unfortunately, we have squandered and destroyed the ecosystems of these other creatures, and even our own.
We have also depleted the ozone layer with industrial chemicals and pollutants, which cause harmful rays to reach the Earth and harm living organisms.
God must be disappointed at our reckless mismanagement of what He has entrusted us with here on earth.
QUESTION
Are you a good or bad manager of God’s creation here on earth?
PRAYER
I confess my sin of bad stewardship, mismanagement, misrule and misuse of what God has placed under my care.
