We always desire blessing in life. When Abraham was blessed, it was not restricted to him and his immediate family alone (vs. 17).
Abraham’s offspring would later extend the blessing to all nations of the world. This means that, as the children of God, we also share in the results of Abraham’s obedience. Perhaps the Song ‘Abraham’s blessings are mine’ has its roots in today’s text.
We may be reaping our parents’ or other relations’ blessings. Just like Abraham, we should strive to win God’s blessings so that they can spread to others.
QUESTION
Are others reaping the benefits of your blessings?
PRAYER
Father, shape my attitude towards obedience so that I can attract your blessings onto me, my family, and others, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
