There is hardly any military threat that is as traumatic as being attacked by a stronger power. This was the situation with God’s people. Israel’s situation got so bad that even Prophet Elisha’s servant also became jittery.
Under the circumstances, it would have been easier to lose hope and confidence in the God of Israel. It would also have been better to surrender to the Syrians and become their slaves. How tragic!
In the midst of this commotion, however, Elisha connected with God and found solace in Him. The prophet prayed two prayers. God answered both prayers and eyes were opened, eyes were closed or blinded.
Today, you wake up almost on a daily basis hearing frightening news of attacks, killings and the destruction of property. Like in the case of Israel, the attackers are known, even though they are preferably said to be unknown, for political reasons.
There is a need to locate God prayerfully and strategically in this unending confusion.
QUESTION
Have your eyes been opened to what is possible?
PRAYER
God of war, open my eyes to see that those who are with us are more than those who are with them. Amen.
