The idea of being overfamiliar with someone is not the same with being disrespectful.
Jesus visited the community in which He grew up. There, He was known. Consequently, He did not get the honor due Him. But He was not offended.
On the contrary, the people were unhappy with Him because He taught with wisdom and performed miracles!
The ministry of Christ in His childhood community was limited by this problem of over familiarity.
As you endeavor to seek God with all your heart, know that if you get to the point of becoming too familiar with God and the things of God, it will be counterproductive.
Some people have become too familiar with God’s Word, the church, the sacraments and God’s ministers that they no longer give them any regard.
QUESTION
Do you think you know God enough to be overfamiliar with Him?
