TEXT: MATTHEW 20:1-16
TOPIC: SALVATION IS BY GRACE ALONE
It is clear that this parable is not about unfairly paying someone who worked eight hours the same amount as someone who has worked for only two hours. Christ is teaching about salvation.
Today, there are many people in the Church who feel that they are more important than others because of the sacrifices they make or through the leadership positions they occupy.
Christ teaches us that the reward for all believers is eternal life. We are all saved by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8, 9).
Salvation is neither based on merit (as taught by Islamic theology) nor the years one has spent working for God.
All of those who have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour will have eternal life, regardless of the time they were saved or how much time they have spent in Christian service.
QUESTION
Are you jealous of new converts?
PRAYER
Help me, O Lord, to serve You in appreciation of Your great love for me. Amen.
