TEXT: PSALM 21:1-13
TOPIC: PRAISE GOD FOR EVERY VICTORY
During David’s reign, the Israelites were much inclined to put their trust in David, who was a powerful and a skilled military leader. But he repeatedly reminded them to put their trust in God by praying and offering sacrifices preparatory to every battle.
Horses and chariots were the most powerful weapons of war, but God forbade all the kings of Israel from trusting in these weapons. “The king, moreover, must not acquire great numbers of horses for himself” (Deuteronomy 17:6).
In Psalm 21, they gathered to praise God for the king’s victory in battle. This is a good model for the African church.
We should celebrate answered prayers and victories with fanfare to the glory of God.
ECWA headquarters church in Jos, the Plateau State capital in Nigeria, celebrates the church’s victory over the secret society, The Rosicrucian Order (AMORC) every July.
It’s a good way to commemorate or exalt God for His deeds in the past, trusting Him for the present and looking forward to His continual intervention and blessings in the future.
QUESTION

Give me the grace, dear Lord, to remember with thanksgiving the great things You have done in my life.
