TEXT: JOHN 1:35-42
TOPIC: JESUS IS THE LAMB OF GOD (II)
Man is known to be consistently inconsistent. In other words, man’s consistent nature is inconsistencies, but that’s not true of John the Baptist. He remained very consistent in terms of the focus of his ministry.
Like Paul, who said, “I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified… My message and preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power” (1 Corinthians 2:2-5).
Today, especially in Nigeria, most of the messages we hear lack the demonstration of the Holy Spirit’s power. Instead, we rely on gimmicks, rhetoric, and deception.
John the Baptist is an excellent model for the African church. He is contented with himself, humble, focused, and is not afraid of losing disciples.
John did not see the ministry as an arena for competition but a platform for complementing one another.
