TEXT: EZRA 6:19-22
TOPIC: THE PASSOVER
In today’s text, the exiled return to their regular pattern of worshíp. The Passover reminded them of the way God rescued them from slavery in Egypt (Exodus 12:1-30), just as in the days of Hezekiah (2 Chron).
The outstanding thing about the celebration is the call for cleanliness. The cleanliness led to the inclusion of the non-Jewish people who genuinely sought the true God, just as in the days of Rahab and Ruth (Josh. 2; Ruth 1-4).
During their festivals, Christians should carry along unbelievers who are willing to identify with our God.
QUESTION
What prompted some of the pagans to identify with the Jews’ Passover?
PRAYER
Father, help me to avoid discriminating against those who do not know You during festive periods, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
