The word ‘fit’ connotes suitable, proper, one who is good in shape and physically well.
The word ‘appointable’ means that one is capable of being appointed. This shows that before one is appointed, they must be suitable and have all it takes tobe appointed!
The first verse of Nehemiah 7 shows that the appointment was done based on the need for rebuilding the wall. It is unlike what we do today when appointments are not made to serve the felt needs of citizens.
Verse 2 shows that the appointment was not based on family or tribal affiliations but on integrity, merit and fear of God. This shows that charisma without character is catastrophic.
Note that in verse 3, there were men who were ready to adhere to every instruction. It is these kinds of people that are needed by Nehemiah and the Church and Nigeria today.
QUESTION
Are you an honest and faithful person of integrity fit for any appointment?
PRAYER
O Lord, may I be found dependable, honest and faithful for any service or appointment in Jesus’ name. Amen.
