TEXT: MATTHEW 27:11-26
TOPIC: ACCUSED BUT NOT GUILTY
Today, the world prefers evil people more than the good and righteous ones.
Out of envy and jealousy, Caiaphas accused Jesus before the leaders of the day (vs. 11), yet He did not utter a word (vs. 13-14).
Pilate, after cross-examining Jesus, was never convinced that He was guilty of the accusations levelled against Him. But his attempt to exonerate Jesus was thwarted by the mob.
Even when Pilate succumbed to their demand by releasing a notorious prisoner, the people still wanted Him to be crucified.
At last, Pilate gave in to the pressure. What a wicked world! This is hat we see in our churches and society today.
QUESTION
Have you sometimes succumbed to doing evil because pressure?
PRAYER
O Lord, I ask for the boldness and strength to resist evil and uphold good, no matter the pressure put on me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
