TEXT: NEHEMIAH 5:1-13
TOPIC: THE NEED FOR A NEHEMIAH
The dilemma, less privileged Israelites faced in the days of Nehemiah is repeating itself today.
While work on building the walls was coming to an end, the less privileged were languishing in hunger. The poor mortgaged their fields, one yards and homes.
Some had to borrow money to pay tax to the king, not to talk about fields and vineyards’ taxes. Above all, some subjected their sons and daughters to slavery.
We are experiencing similar problems in Nigeria today. Thus, we need our own Nehemiahs to erase this evil (vs. 10, 12-13).
QUESTION
Why is the need for a Nehemiah a must today?
PRAYER
Father, please raise Nehemiahs who will not only build our spiritual walls but also advocate on behalf of the poor. Amen.
